I drive a kawasaki ninja 250, i slip the clutch a lot because the motor isnt very powerful. How will i know when i need to replace it? Preferrably before it do damage to rotating parts other than the clutch plates.
The bike has 7k on it now is it time to replace them?How do i know when a clutch is worn down?If you regularly pop the clutch,slip the clutch,leave it in gear while at long stop signs,do wheelies ,power shift,and accellerate hard you will need them replaced in the next 3000 mi.When you finally dissassemble the clutch check the clutch basket for excessive wear as to much wear will cause the new plates to wear out quicker.I rode from 1967 till 2004 or about 37 yrs and have put on a few miles.How do i know when a clutch is worn down?When the clutch starts slipping on its own at high RPM and your outta clutch adjustment, then its time to replace. You will want to throw new friction plates AND steel plates back in the basket. enough saidHow do i know when a clutch is worn down?Dont worry about it until you notice the tachometer climbing and the speedo just stayin steady.... without knowing what or who the bike has been through its impossible to to put a mileage expectancy on a clutch... Since you are hard on the clutch you should definately flush the lubricants more often than normal... Heavy duty clutch springs will also extend clutch life at the expense of rider comfortHow do i know when a clutch is worn down?I know a great free manual for this type of bike
