You have to remove the transmission to be able to replace the slave cylinder! Might as well do a new clutch while your in there, so you don't have to take tranny out again when it's due. Don't know about cost...depends on if you do a clutch and slave and labor to remove and replace tranny.

How hard is to replace a slave cylynder on my clutch?
my clutch on my 95 explorer all of a sudden went hard and i couldnt push it in then theres nothing there. i put clutch fluid in and it leaks out under the truck.ive been told that its the slave cylynder,how do i fix this and about how much will it cost?How hard is to replace a slave cylynder on my clutch?Most slave cylinders are very easy to replace...but not on your truck. :(
