I have a 03 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Diesel and 6 speed. When I start the truck the clutch pedal is very soft. I am unable to get the truck into gear without pumping the clutch 20-30 times, then I can shift into gear no problems. I checked the fluid reservoir and it was still pretty full, I topped it off two days ago and it hasn't gone down since then.
What is wrong, and how much am I looking at to have it repaired at my friendly neighboorhood mechanic?Hydraulic clutch have to pump to get in gear, what is wrong? It sounds like you have air in the hydraulic clutch system. If the fluid is not leaking out of the reservoir you can probably get away with just bleeding the system. You shouldn't be looking at to much money to bleed the air out, just ask who ever is going to do the work to just try and bleed the system first and see if that solves the problem. The only other things that go wrong are leaking slave cylinders, leaking lines,or a bad clutch master cylinder, but then you would be losing brake fluid.Well this should give you some help.Hydraulic clutch have to pump to get in gear, what is wrong?could either be the master or slave is going out on the clutch ..Hydraulic clutch have to pump to get in gear, what is wrong?Sounds like you have air in the lines or a bad master clutch cylinder or slave cylinder. Those are about the only things involved. good luckHydraulic clutch have to pump to get in gear, what is wrong?either master or slave cyl leaking.Hydraulic clutch have to pump to get in gear, what is wrong?Your slave cylinder is leaking internally.
One hour labor should do it. I would guess the job would be under $200 with parts.Hydraulic clutch have to pump to get in gear, what is wrong? The master pump or the slave pump seals are gone bad.pls get the seals changed. It will cost a few dollars for the seals.
after changing the seals, ensure proper fluid is used.Hydraulic clutch have to pump to get in gear, what is wrong? You either have air in clutch line or it is bad. Had this happen on a toyota years ago and wound up replacing the clutch system.
