How do you know when your clutch is bad?
I have a 1997 Eclipse and when I shift it is hard to get into gear. It either grinds or I have to push pretty hard to get it into gear. I noticed that when I push the clutch in hard it will go into gear much easier. How do you know when your clutch is bad?You may just need to have the clutch slave cylinder serviced. If you have the owners manual it should tell you where to check it. If you don't, go to a shop and they should be able to help. How do you know when your clutch is bad?Either the linkage needs adjustment [if mechanical] or you have a fluid problem, like old fluid or master/slave cylinder leak [if hydraulic]. Often flushing the brake fluid that is used in a hydraulic clutch actuater solves the problem, just as regularly flushing the brake system helps to avoid mushy brake pedal. A worn clutch would allow the motor to rev w/o equal movement of the car.How do you know when your clutch is bad?It sounds like it is going bad. If you push down on the clutch (without shifting) and hear like a jittery, grinding sound, very faint, then your clutch is also about to go. I know this because that's what happened to me about a month and a half ago. When if finally breaks it won't want to go into any gear. And it might leave you stuck in the middle of a busy street like it did to me :P
