I have an 88 Ducati 750 Paso whose clutch is very loose-when I'm holding the clutch down and the bike is on 1st gear, the bike goes. I'm trying to play around with the screws at the end of the clutch cable, but no matter what I do the clutch is still loose. If anyone can help me with this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. One is at the lever and one is at the point where the cable going into the clutch. Adjust the cable first at the lever. If it is out all the way the adjust the cable at the point of entry into the clutch (Adjustments to tighten clutch are usually to loosen the screws.) If both are at maximum then is is possible that the clutch cable has stretched. Before opening the clutch check your adjustments. With a bike the age of yours, I would not be surprised if that cable has just stretched too much.
