How do I check for burnt clutch? I've been driving my standard '07 Eclipse for about 6-7 months, and I wanted to know if it's slipping or what so ever. This is my first standard car so I learned how to drive stick on it, also probably done some damage when I used to stall a lot. Is there any diagnostic tests I can use before taking it to a shop to check?How do I check for burnt clutch?the best indicator is how high the clutch has to be before it catches......AN experienced mechanic can drive it and tell you about how worn it is.......I have to say that being an 07 the clutch is probably ok unless you are really hard on it......clutches generally last ten-15 years under normal wear and tear.......good luck!!!
PS: you can usually smell a burnt clutch if it is slipping....there will be a strong odor everytime you drive if the clutch is burning!!!How do I check for burnt clutch?unfortunately burnt or %26quot;scored%26quot; clutch disc and plate can only be determined by visual inspection. that means you'd have to pull the trans and engine apart. a good rule of thumb to go by is if your clutch engages when the clutch pedal is nearly half way up, then chances are your clutch has probably worn too low or just maybe you're low on brake fluid. but being an '07 eclipse i highly doubt its worn.
have it checked out my mitsu. call them to see if its still under warranty.
