How bad is it to drop the clutch at high revs for a launch start?

I drive a 99 Miata and don't want to kill my clutch. I've only done this type of launch start twice but find it immensely fun. How bad is this for my car? would doing it another 10 times ruin my clutch/transmission?How bad is it to drop the clutch at high revs for a launch start? It's pretty bad I would, some newer cars even have a rev limiter while the clutch is depressed so you can't dump it from very high rpm's due to transmission failure when doing so. But how else are you going to beat the car next you at the stoplight, right? If you can't afford the replace the clutch, I wouldn't do it, if you do have the money to pay for a new clutch and other whatnot, go for it.How bad is it to drop the clutch at high revs for a launch start?nah, it'll wear on it, but it takes more than 10 to blow it. Unless it's already on the way out. Have fun. Replacing the clutch isn't that big of a deal anyways. Take you a few hours..How bad is it to drop the clutch at high revs for a launch start? If your tyres have good grip on a tarmac road you put immense stresses on the whole transmission, gear and gearbox, clutch, drive shafts. Any of those can break easily under this stresses. Keep it up if you have plenty of money to wasteHow bad is it to drop the clutch at high revs for a launch start? It's made to take it.How bad is it to drop the clutch at high revs for a launch start?well if its about racing another car then you really dont want to be dumping anything as this wastes time and tread on your wheels id suggest learning the best point on your revs to where your wheels wont spin that way you save tread your clutch and make time

on my celica its about 3.5-4k revs without having a wheel spin anything above is wasting my time when racing

if its for show and burn outs put a little diesil on the road or oil the tyres can usually get a decent burn out that way but be carefull when the tyres blow out you dont have the car flip over on you or parts come out from the wheel and hurt/kill someoneHow bad is it to drop the clutch at high revs for a launch start?Dumping the clutch serves no constructive purpose. Drivetrain components are designed to tolerate a limited amount of torque. The repair cost of fixing a drivetrain damaged by dumping the clutch could run into the thousands of dollars. Next time, buy a car with a bit more HP so you can use the gas pedal to spin the tires instead of potential kinetic energy. ;o)
