How do I know when my clutch is going out?

I have an '04 Mustang GT, I dont do much trann work so once I noticed that my clutch was easier to push down I started to pay more attention to my clutch. It seems that every time I push the peddle down it makes like a creeking noise. Its not loud, so I figure its the spring but some advise would be nice.How do I know when my clutch is going out?An easy way to check you clutch... at a very low speed put the shifter in a high gear and step on the accelerator.
