How do you know if the clutch is slipping?

Ok, this is my first manual car. How do you know if your clutch is burnt out? I heard of it slipping, but what exactly does it do when is slipping? And does the car make a sound when it slips? Is there a test to see if the clutch is still good and is the car drivable? Thanks in advance.How do you know if the clutch is slipping?Get the car driving and while in 3rd gear, accelerate strongly.
